A short blog entry to give kudos to the South End Neighborhood Association President and my good friend Robert Norvell who orchestrated the delivery of over 200 TURKEYS this year to South Olive Elementary and Conniston Teachers, Custodians & Families in need.
From the story on WPTV:
So, Norvell is doing something about it. He spent his Monday morning at the grocery store shopping with volunteers from the South End Neighborhood Association.
The group bought turkeys and gift cards for the families and staff at Conniston Middle School.
“For some of them its the first time they ever cooked a turkey so it’s going to be an unique experience for them,” said Norvell.
Forty turkeys were given to families with kids who attend the middle school. Families like April Belasco are thankful for the donation.“This is going to benefit me a lot, because times are hard, so putting the turkey in the oven, that will be great,” said Belasco.
The money to fund the turkeys was donated by individual doners as well as the South Olive Elementary PTO and the South End Neighborhood Association.
