Starting at 5 PM yesterday the Great Give, a 24-hour online giving event, got off to a roaring start.
With $10 or more you can be a philanthropist!
The Great Give Palm Beach & Martin Counties is a partnership between three organizations that share a common mission – to help build vibrant communities. Together we are amplifying our impact on the communities we live in and love.
Anyone can make a secure donation of $10 or more on this website or by calling 1-844-GIVE-DAY (1-844-448-3329), and every gift will be multiplied with bonus dollars. Please help our local nonprofits raise significant funds that will make a direct, positive impact on the lives of our neediest residents.
Watch a summary of how the difference the Great Give made in 2014 here:
Lexi Savage, Sr. Vice President at United Way of Palm Beach County, who was up at 4am this morning, sent over this update.
“We’re off to an amazing start and hope that our community will only continue to support the 437 participating Nonprofits in a big way so we can exceed all expectations. Last year, great give raised $2.2 m for 330 orgs in just one day. We know, with even more nonprofits this year, we can raise more for an even bigger impact! Literally, every cause is represented. :)”
I’ve listed a few of my favorite local charities below – but there are a LOT more – to find the charity of your choice, please use the search function provided at greatgiveflorida.org.

Yesteryear Village
The South Florida Fairgrounds is home of Yesteryear Village. Established in 1990, the Village is comprised of authentic and replicated buildings and structures from days gone by. The mission is to promote and preserve early Florida life from 1895 – 1945. Many collections, exhibits and artifacts can be found on this 10 acre history park. When visiting Yesteryear Village, patrons will gain an insight of how their ancestors were taught in a one-room schoolhouse and will develop an understanding of how life has changed throughout the years. Furthermore, information provided during the educational tours has been developed in conjunction with the Palm Beach County District’s curriculum.
