Happy Monday! In my Friday email update, I talked about bringing West Palm Beach together to film a music video for the Pharrell’s song Happy!

After this song & video was released, cities all over the world started making their own music videos. Among the cities that created Happy videos are Jamaica, Tokyo, and Cape Town.
The amazing thing about these videos is that they break through all social and national barriers and show people that the thing that we all have in common is being happy.

Last Thursday morning, after watching the above video, I tweeted the idea of shooting a “Happy” music video here in West Palm Beach to show off our beautiful city as well as the diversity that we have in our little big town.
I immediately got emails from lots of locals & organisations who were excited to get involved.
To make this work it needs to be a community effort. If you enjoy having fun, like dancing, know a cool location to shoot, have video skills or just want to come out and have a good time, we need your help. We need EVERYONE, young and old! Let’s make this happen!!!
We need EVERYONE to be involved
Here is where the planning is so far.
Shooting day: Saturday, April 12th
My initial plan was to shoot over a few weeks, ending at Sunfest. When I started looking at the dates available and the amount of work that was going to be involved, I saw that Saturday, April 12th had so many events that we could “piggy back” on, we could do all the shooting in one day.
[updated] This is where we will be shooting – please do your best to arrive in the beginning of the time allotted as we will move on to the next place as soon as we feel we’ve completed all the shots we need.
- 7:30 – 9: Summa Beach
- 9:30 – Noon : Green Market & Clematis Street
- 2 – 3 PM: First Baptist Church & Flagler
- 3:30 – 5 PM: City Place
- 5 – 6pm – Alley south of the 300 Block of Clematis Street
- 6pm – Fountains (with Cheerleaders)
- 6:30pm – Pizza Girls
- 7pm – Docks
- After party at Le Rondezvous
Here’s a preliminary itinerary for shooting (nothing has been set in stone & nobody has agreed on anything):
- Sunrise at the Great American Cleanup on Summa Beach & South End neighborhoods
- 11am Phipps park
- 12pm Green Market & Clematis Street
- 2 pm – Downtown location TBD
- Time TBD – Gaines Park – with Feed Palm Beach County & North End neighborhoods
- Evening / Sunset – Party on the waterfront with Visit West Palm Beach
We need to have a group of people at each of these locations to lead the dancing – we will only need to have 4 minutes and 20 seconds of video, but we want to have a blast
